LOWCOSTCAR: purchase and delivery of vehicles from the United States
Copart or IAAI: how to choose a vehicle and compare costs
Copart and IAAI should be compared by vehicle, document, status and full budget. It cannot be assumed that only battle cars are sold on Copart, and IAAI only has a whole. Even similar lots may have different charges, access conditions and the cost of transport from the site.
Compare the lots, not the title.
For two cars of one model, compare the year, set, engine, VIN, run, document and damage. The cost of repairs affects the choice more than the difference in the current rate. For resale, add local demand checks, time frames and registration costs.
| Criteria | Which compares to both sites. |
|---|---|
| Document | Status, state, export and registration |
| Status | Photo, inspection, completeness, repair |
| Collections | Each auction’s own tariff |
| Shipping | Distance to port, body and loading |
| Purchase | The real price of victory or Buy It Now, the buyer's access |
Each site has its collection.
LOTWISE stores Copart and IAAA as independent configurations. Low Fee does not turn them into one tariff. When compared, use the same estimated purchase price and check the commission of the particular account and the method of payment. Possible delays and storage are assessed separately.
Access to purchase depends on the lot.
The right to bid is determined by the requirements of the site and the vehicle chosen. IAA describes the purchase through a registered buyer or broker for international clients. Copart also needs to check the requirements for documents and licenses. The broker should explain how a particular transaction would be handled.
Why the delivery changes the choice.
A cheaper boat far from a convenient port may be more expensive than the final budget. Add transportation, loading and port operations, then taxes and repairs. The calculation to the same city makes it possible to compare the proposals in a meaningful way.
A practical way of choosing
Keep references to two or three suitable vehicles. Check the documents and injuries, make the calculations for your country and agree on the maximum rate. If one option requires unpredictable repairs or is not suitable for registration, the low accrual price does not compensate for these risks.
Frequently asked questions
IAAI is always better to buy a whole car?
No. The decision depends on the status and document of the particular lot. The damage and terms of sale must be checked on both sites.
Can Copart and IAA be compared in one table?
No, the floors are independent. Compare two calculations at the same price of purchase and check the applicable additional commissions.
